Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to any prospective student entering the health profession. No matter what field you choose to go into in healthcare, this course is great at covering public health issues on a local and global level. Not only does it raise awareness to problems in your own community, it also teaches the foundation for healthcare professions. This course introduces the interprofessional core collaborative skills that are becoming more popular in the healthcare setting today. Professor Gibson, working in the field herself, is extremely knowledgeable on all of the topics taught in the course. Relating the material to real life experiences is always beneficial.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was teaching the foundation for healthcare professions, and how all must be viewed as interprofessional collaborative based practices. In the past, healthcare professionals treated each patient from their own scope of practice, and little communication is done between the different providers for that one patient. Now, a more collaborative based practice is being integrated into the field, placing emphasis how all providers must work in unison to optimize the patient's overall health and well being.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study all of the power points provided in the class. Professor Gibson is great at reviewing the power points, telling you everything covered on each exam. She mentions at least two or three points that will be on the exams, so have them printed and handy at class!
