    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course will greatly improve your ability to explain your views or opinions on a subject. I went into this course having only ever written 3 page essays before, and they were very forced. I left this course having written a 7 page paper! As well as two 5-6 page papers! And they were well written as well, which surprise me that i was even capable of writing so well. Mrs. Nicholson brings out the best in her students and is willing to push you to the edge.

    Course highlights:

This course will help you write smoothly and change the way you write your essays in general. Mrs. Nicholson stressed dropping the essay format drilled into young kids and tells us to write how we feel, if we feel we should start a new paragraph, make a new paragraph. If we feel a sentence needs to be smoother for a transition from one paragraph to the next, make it smoother. Basically it's your essay, and as long as the requirements are met, the paper is yours to do with as you please, within reason of course

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't be afraid to poor your heart into your papers. Don't focus on how many pages you still need to get done, just focus on getting out what you want to say in your essay, the pages will come faster than you expect. Don't be afraid to have your teacher look over it for mistakes, who better to help you than the person who will be grading it? If you are too uncomfortable with that, sharing your papers with any English teacher is also a great idea, let them know the requirements for your essay and try not to take their comments as attacks, they just want to help!
