    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to anyone because, although fast paced, it is still the entry level course for any Science major and the instructor does a great job relating the topics to everyday uses and scenarios. As long as you put in the work you learn so much more than expected and you fall in love with Science and it's many mysteries as the semester progresses.

    Course highlights:

I particularly enjoyed learning the patterns of inheritance and Genetics in this course. The instructor went above and beyond on explaining the topic and the labs for these chapters, although not complex, made clear how everything has an order in this life, including organisms we least expect or take notice of. I learned the use of phenotypes and genotypes, how to use Punnett Squares for determining basic genetic outcomes when cross breeding, some history on the father of genetics himself, Gregor Mendel, and the absolutely fascinating facts on recessive traits.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed in this class, I would suggest to purchase the expensive book required. Do not rent, make it your own, highlight, write notes, reference it in the future, it helps! I would also suggest to ALWAYS read or skim through what class lectured will be about, they make a lot more sense than sitting through hours and not knowing what anyone is talking about. Have an idea of the topic and of the labs for the day before waling in, it is all in the syllabus.
