    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend it because it allowed me to understand more about the basics of organic chemistry.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were learning about the molecular geometry of organic compounds and also building these structures with models.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I will advice students to read the assigned texts and take notes in class from the whiteboard and do practice problems.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Organic chemistry is a very difficult course and can be absolutely frustrating. No matter what, you'll want to stay positive and never get behind in class. Pay attention during lecture, and don't be afraid to ask for help! Professor Gilley was very helpful during lecture and willing to help every step of the way.

    Course highlights:

This course was taught on the basis of a four year college plan. Many of my classmates were transferring to various UC and CSU schools, including Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD. With that in mind, this course taught me how to prepare for a true college course and the effort needed in order to succeed in an upper division course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed, study hard and study often. Use all the resources she gives you, including practice tests and powerpoint slides. The more you study and the more resources you use, the more you will begin to understand the various concepts in organic chemistry.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Alexander doesn't teach the course at all. He literally just reads the course booklet and doesn't explain any of the organic chemistry problems in a decent way. I only went to class for attendance and then I had to learn everything he tried to teach me on my own, in the library for hours after class. Terrible teacher!

    Course highlights:

I gained great study partners in this class due to the fact that we all basically had to teach it to ourselves. I learned that even if a subject seems impossible, it can be conquered if you work in study groups to get through it.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do not take this professor if you struggle with math in any way. Its a relatively easy course if math comes easy to you.
