    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Basic chemistry course, but still has lots of information.

    Course highlights:

Basic chemistry principles which were later applied to biology.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study, study, study. Pay attention. Don’t use your phone or computer in class.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is a thorough chemistry class. Excellent if you are going into STEM. Covered all the necessary material in a logical sequence (built out from atoms to molecules to interactions).

    Course highlights:

Highlights were labs, which were very in-depth and full of interesting learning opportunities, and the instructor, who was very interested in making sure everyone got through the class with as best a grade as they could get.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

I took this as a 7-week summer course, which I would not recommend, unless you are coming right off high school AP Chem or are generally really good at chemistry. I was neither and therefore struggled with the sheer volume of material in the short timeframe. I had to spend a lot of extra time re-learning stuff from high school chemistry, so I would recommend you have your basics down first, or perhaps take a refresher course. You'll save yourself a lot of difficulty.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Professor Waldyke shows animation and passion for chemistry, and it is just simply contagious! Before you know it, you'll be sucked into the chem vortex. Atoms and molecules get personalities, bonds and ions have entertaining behaviors, and it just becomes a relatable concept! I highly recommend this course, with or without a great professor, it can be an unforgettable experience if you are openminded about it.

    Course highlights:

Structures of atoms, orbitals, molecules, ions. Learning of bonds and reactivity that elements and molecules have with one another are essential. Math and physics are concepts learned in the beginning, but it is all algebraic and simple if you have completed your math prerequisites.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Never underestimate the course! Do your homework, and being done does not mean stop studying! Study, study, study and you will not fail.
