    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

He cares for each and every one of the students and makes sure that everyone understands what he's teaching. He motivates and makes us all independent learners.

    Course highlights:

I learned that students should be motivated if they want to be successful. They should try their best or make an attempt at even the most difficult problem and learn to fix their mistakes.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be organized, study concepts, and be independent.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a challenging course that will give you a good background in physics and prepare you for college.

    Course highlights:

I learned about Newton's Laws of Motion, how to calculate parabolic motion, torque, springs, collision, electrical circuits, and more. The highlights of this course were the hands on learning we got from performing labs.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to take ownership of your own learning. Read the assigned chapters before coming to class and take good notes. Utilize YouTube videos to further your understanding or clarify a topic. Make FLASHCARDS of all the equations and formulas throughout the year (you'll thank yourself later). Form study groups with peers and practice taking old AICE exams.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Having skipped Pre-AICE Physics, I found the class extremely challenging at first. There were many times where I opted out of doing homework, because I felt as if it wasn't necessary. This class teaches more than just physics, it encourages students to become self-sufficient in order to achieve. I believe this course has prepared me for other college-level courses i have taken, and encourage others to take it as well.

    Course highlights:

I gained an above-average understanding of introductory physics, and realized that relying on myself would benefit me in the long run.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Mr. Melvin is sometimes hard to reason with, right off the bat he expects all students to learn new material by themselves away from the classroom, and you will spend most of your time in class reviewing material through practice problems.
