    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class boosted my confidence as a writer. I was pushed in my assignments but my professor was always right there, giving me direction and advice. I walked away knowing for the first time that I was a competent writer and had the fundamentals to succeed in higher writing courses.

    Course highlights:

The highlights was having a professor who loved what she did. It showed in how she set up her lesson plans. There were a lot of classroom projects and discussion and she did everything she could to keep up interested and engaged. I learned how to write with confidence, to be assured that my writing voice was strong and important. I could use facts and other writing techniques to boost my arguments and bring validity to what I was saying.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be in contact with the professor. She will bend over backwards to help her students and always makes herself available. Don't just assume you know what to do, clarify with her and TAKE HER ADVICE. She knows what shes doing.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Kathleen Byrd changed my ENTIRE college experience with this one class. He passion in the subject and absolute dedication to her students created an environment I wanted to be in and I actually got excited everyday to be in her class. I felt this way because I knew I was going to be pushed but I was also given everything I needed to succeed and do well. My confidence soared and I now approach all my other classes with determination to apply myself and get the most out of what I am begin taught. I have Kathleen Byrd to thank for that.

    Course highlights:

You gain so much appreciation for well developed and intentional writing. I learned how to be more direct and factional with my words. The class was never just busy work and every assignment or project we did helped enforce concepts. Some of the highlights were the readings we were assigned. They were interesting and never dull and the writing follow ups helped me process what I just read. Kathleen Byrd was the real highlight though. Always prepared, always dedicated, she created an environment of learning that was extremely welcoming.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

You are going to have to work to do well but if you apply yourself, you get so much in return. A really involved teacher who wants you to succeed and all the tools you need to do so.
