    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was very informative, and I did get an A, but in order to do so, there was much unnecessary work and pain such as having to stay up till 5 am for 2 weeks straight during finals.

    Course highlights:

I learned about how the government worked, what the constitution stood for, and the basics of politics.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would make sure to do work in class as he gives lectures so that you will not be bombarded at home.

    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because the teacher is very enthusiastic about this subject and is very good at staying neutral while facilitating an open discussion environment.

    Course highlights:

I gained a new interest in politics from this course and a desire to be actively aware of what was going on around me.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention to the presentations, take notes from the power points at home after the presentation, go to class as much as possible, and do all the assignments.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Ssemaala had a strong accent that made it often a bit hard to understand during lecture, which he never finished in class and sent to your personal email. The weekly quizzes and frequent tests were not horrible as some were open book, but his often biased opinion often showed in his teaching and created a somewhat hostile environment of debate between students with differing opinions from one another.

    Course highlights:

I learned more about the American government system, civics, and political science in a the one week American Legion Auxiliary Evergreen Girls State camp than I did in his twelve week course, in which I had no highlights in.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would not recommend taking this course with this specific professor unless as a last resort and needing to do so as a High School graduation requirement as it was for me. It is very important as an American citizen, to know how the American government system works, but it is not so important to constantly hear the biased opinion of a professor that should be actually teaching a class.
