Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The course is great but this particular teacher leaves no room for artistic freedom.

    Course highlights:

I learned depth and detailed shading.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Consider taking this course or a course like it with a different teacher.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Lisa is funny and engaging, the most fun I've had drawing! The 3 hour studio class time always flies by. She offers great instruction and feedback.

    Course highlights:

Going outside and drawing in the sun around campus. One time we played bad mitten outside for fun and also to observe the body's movements and capture them in quick 10 second sketches.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go in with an open mind. Even if you doubt your artistic ability you will most definitely improve and if nothing else gain some relaxation and fun.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I wouldn't recommend taking this teacher. She does NOT allow you the chance to get full credit. Yes, there are very few occasions you are capable of getting full credit in the class, but it TECHNICALLY is always possible. But not in this class. Many of the in class assignments are pass fail, which makes sense for an art class. However, because she has no concept of how to weight assignments, her solution is that if you get a pass, you get 90/100 on the assignment. Which, for the record, is a solid B. There are only As, Bs, Cs, and Fs. And it is extremly hard to do well enough on the big projects that aren't pass fail to get your grade up to an A. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

    Course highlights:

You learn many different techniques for drawing with a couple different mediums. You learn to train your eye to look at the curves and shadows of the objects you're drawing.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't take it. Just don't. If you do, and you don't do well, challenge your grade. Her grading style is not fair, and with the amount you are paying for your education, you deserve to get a grade that reflects what you put into it. If you feel you deserve a better grade, challenge your grade. Also, don't skip class. It isn't worth it. If you have to miss class for whatever reason, let her know so you can work something out. Also, be aware, there is a project where you draw a nude individual in class. There is an out of class assignment for those who are uncomfortable with it, but it is 10 times harder than the in class assignment.
