Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

You will learn a lot, but because you are learning it will help you make better political decisions in the future.

    Course highlights:

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Study and participate in class! Get into discussions and be involved with others in your class.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Bowman is also our state senator so he brings a lot of experience that is not found in a textbook. However, the main reason I would suggest someone to take Mr. Bowman's government class is because he makes a subject fun that is otherwise very boring.

    Course highlights:

Nearing the end of the semester we did senate simulation. In the simulation we took a bill that had been passed in the Iowa Senate and debated it. We learned the procedures of a senate, and how to be persuasive in a debate.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The most important thing to passing Mr. Bowman's government is showing interest in the class. If you make an effort to participate and get involved in the discussions then you will be fine.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I was not a super stoked about this class. I only took this class because it was a requirement. It was tough for me to truly learn anything in this class because the teacher did most of his teaching through lectures, and he used a lot of definition based terms to describe concepts. I prefer hands on learning with lots of examples.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed the senate simulation activity because it allowed me to actively participate in class and get some insight on how a real debate works. I learned the basics of government. I was very unfamiliar with this area of academics, and I now know the three branches of government and the purposes they serve.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

A student who plans to take this course should be prepared to study for 2-3 hours the nights before a test. The test questions contain real life situations, so a student should take that into consideration when studying.
