Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a class that makes you work for your grade, it makes you push and read on your own and annotate books, poems, articles and any other pieces of literature. This class is not hard only if you do your work if you miss an assignment you will begin to fall behind.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to annotate any thing I read, I learned that every poem has a different meaning. I also learned how to write an essay in less than hours.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to be willing to read and be willing to put in the time and work for this class. If you don't like reading and don't like to annotate poems, and books then this class is not for you. This class is a very good way to learn new things but if your late to class and don't want to achieve anything then I would not attend this class.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

English Literature and Comp teaches individuals how to read a piece of work and identify the deeper meaning of the main plot, understand the complexity and the underlying messages it may be telling. English Lit.

    Course highlights:

Taking English Literature and Comp taught me, personally, how to analyze a work as a whole. You begin to truly understand how literary devices can be used to emphasize points in a passage that may be hidden. You understand how symbolism and metaphors can affect a story and show the underlying meanings. For me, the highlights of this course were reading books of literary merit and getting to learn to actually understand the novel and what it signified.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go into the class knowing the basics of writing a good essay. Know how to start an essay and get a reader hooked. Know your literary devices and use them. The majority of work in English Lit. and Comp is writing essays that deal with the underlying meaning of the work as a whole, and how literary devices help shine light onto the meaning. Study tips I would recommend for this course is to learn the literary devices like that back of your hand. They are extremely important, as they are used in every book ever written.
