    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mrs. Holloway helps incorporate history in everything we do. History is everywhere and I have gained a passion for the subject.

    Course highlights:

Some highlights of this course are the discussions. One of the most memorable lectures was about the most important event of the Cold War. I got to see differing opinions and why.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Don't procrastinate! It is very easy to put of readings or worksheets, but there are so many assignments that it is very easy to fall behind.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This was the first semester of the 2 year IB History of the Americas course I took and am currently still taking for IB credit from Mrs. Holloway. It is a fascinating course, taking us into the study of the causes, practices, and effects of both the American Civil War and the Mexican Revolution, however it is heavy on reading, video watching, and note taking. I'll admit, reading Villa and Zapata about killed me, but it was worth it to learn all about the rich history of the Americas. I would recommend this course for history lovers who can handle a slightly more outgoing, outspoken, and occasionally assertive teacher.

    Course highlights:

I loved learning so much IN DEPTH knowledge about history that is so close to where I am from, such as the American Civil War. I'm looking forward to continuing to study, to such depth, bigger conflicts such as the world wars, the Cold War, and how the world has interacted over the years to shape the world we live in today.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

BE PREPARED TO WORK. There is a lot of reading, writing, memorizing, and analysis in this class, and it is not an easy one. I won't say I don't recommend it, because if you love history it is an insightful course, but Mrs. Holloway is not one to forgive and forget for kids who don't make an effort. Just be willing to do the reading, make the seemingly unreasonable study guides (which are actually very helpful for the test at the end of senior year) and make your work count.

The course challenges and expends one's knowledge on the discernment of knowledge.

I have been able to watch myself and my fellow classmates stumble over a variety of obstacles in order to achieve our goals.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Never give up in your ability or the thought process of your teacher.
