Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class isn't a requirement, however; it really really provides you with information that is never given to you. This course focused on teaching the basic functions of a brain and also behavior and mental health.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the class were learning about the functions of the brain: learning about what the cerebellum does, what the function of a hippocampus is, and learning about the importance of the medulla for breathing.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

To succeed you have to actually be interested in this topic because if you are not interested chances are you won't read the book and reading the book is very important to do well and actually grasp the information.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This was my first AP course. I am beyond impressed with my instructor. This is has been an incredible class for me. I was very skeptical when choosing this class because it was an AP course. Mr. Petros is fantastic! This is a class I enjoy attending. I value class participation and the resources made available to us to ensure we do well. I'm also fortunate to have classmates who seem to feel the same way I do. Daily, Mr. Petros comes to class like it's his first day. He cares, wants each of us to succeed. The work load is heavy, I'm being honest. However, I enjoy the homework. This is the first class where I have literally used note cards to map out chapters and class discussions. The information clicks. I look forward to the next day. I encourage any incoming student to take the course seriously. Apply yourself, put the work, time and effort into making this class one you will never forget. Rely on Mr. Petros for guidance. Stay engaged, participate and apply yourself daily. Also, stay on top of assignments.

    Course highlights:

I'm currently enrolled in this course. As a senior, I had the option to take this class and I jumped all over it. I made the mistake through out high school of not taking Honors and AP classes at all and it was a huge mistake. AP Psychology is not an easy course it requires a ton of work and time. So far it is worth it because I learned how to actually devote time to an advanced class and the class provided me better study habits for other classes.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

To be successful in this class you have to be prepared to devote a lot of time and studying while also devoting enough time to other classes. You have to go into it taking it seriously. During the course so far Mr. Petros gives us at least 3 days to turn in each assignment which is for sure enough time to get it done thoroughly and have it be correct.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class based on the fact that I had so much fun in it! My teacher was amazing and the presentations/lectures we had in class helped a ton, especially if I didn't understand a term or concept just from reading the book. Psychology in itself is a very interesting subject and I think a student will have a hard time finding it boring.

    Course highlights:

Some highlights of the course for me was actually on the first day of class when my teacher gave us a packet that explained to us how to study efficiently. I already thought I knew how to study since I've been doing it basically my whole life, but by reading the passages I actually learned a lot about how I've been studying. It told me about the wrong and the right, and it ultimately helped me in the course, since you'll be reading and writing quite a bit.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Some advice I'd give is to pay attention in class. If you decide not to do the reading or you couldn't, it's imperative that you listen to the teacher. Out of everything in the class, what helped me learn the most was the lectures my teacher gave. She went over confusing topics with people and taught us very helpful tricks. One of them was finding a similar topic or word that you could think of that would help you remember the term. For example, if I forgot what cognitive meant, I would think of a cog, and then I'd remember seeing visuals where there are cogs in someone's brain turning and powering the brain. By doing this, I'd remember that cognitive functions are activities that happen in the brain to acquire information, generally speaking. It's tips like this and the lectures my teacher gave that made me love the class and get a 5 on the AP test.
