    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a very labor intensive course. Mr. D tends to go over the material briefly without taking questions and sometimes just expects you to know what is on the test by reading the book. He tends to have us do labs that really don't make much sense and it was hard to figure out what exactly we were supposed to learn. This class is heavily independent, and I wasn't ready for that. It took some adjusting in order to understand that some of the material I just had to learn myself. But once you get the hang of his style of teaching, then it isn't too bad.

    Course highlights:

I think the most memorable time in the course was studying photosynthesis and cell respiration. I remember Mr. D flipping around tables in order to illustrate a molecule moving through proteins. I learned that no matter how complicated a concept may seem, drilling it into your head is possible. I will forever remember how a plant cell makes food, and how a animal cell uses food.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Just do what he assigns, and then do extra. Do the reading, do the notes, look at the targets he puts up, and make sure you understand each concept as it comes, instead of cramming the night before the test. You really can't rely on him to teach you. You have to do a lot of independent work, ask questions, and do all the worksheets to make sure you understand the concepts.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I thought this course was really interesting, and I loved my teacher. It was definitely a hard course but the content was fun to learn about and Mr. D really kept all of the students engaged and interested. I had a lot of fun and despite the difficulty, I would definitely recommend it.

    Course highlights:

The pig dissection was a lot of fun and really interesting. We learned about evolution, plants & fungi, anatomy of the fetal pig, a lot about DNA & RNA, macromolecules, and lots of other interesting things.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure you study hard and do all of the assigned homework. Definitely read the textbook because it helps a lot on tests.
