    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course for anyone that wants to go into any field of science. If you apply yourself in this course, you will reap many benefits including having the chance to save money and time in college by testing out of general college chemistry I and II with the AP exam. This class's college equivalent is a staple in many degree programs, so if it is offered to you in high school, I highly recommend saving your money and taking this course. This class will also likely make you realize whether or not you want to pursue a science degree because of its rigor.

    Course highlights:

This course challenged me to understand the ins and outs of all of the basic concepts of chemistry. After taking this course, I feel like I understand the world around me better because of the concepts I learned. Some highlights were learning how to extract precious metal from ore, understanding the importance of pH in nature, and being able to explain the mechanics of fireworks.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the textbook and outline the chapters you are going over before you get to class. It will make everything so much easier. Also, subscribe to Khan Academy's AP chemistry videos and Bozemanscience AP chemistry videos because they explain almost every concept visually. Lastly, don't be afraid to make an appointment to talk to your teacher. They are there to help you understand the material, not to frighten you from it.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because although it was very difficult, it certainly taught me a lot about the bio-medical field. This course requires an excessive amount of out-of-school work so that is why I would not highly recommend it for somebody that is in a lot of extracurricular activities.

    Course highlights:

Some of the highlights from this course were that I learned how to determine fingerprint patterns, blood spatter, and determine the suspect of a murder. We also learned about diabetes and other medical conditions. Our class even went on a field trip to learn how to insert a breathing tube into someone and administer CPR.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

In order to succeed in this course, students need to be very independent in their study habits and work ethic. They need to have good common sense and thinking skills.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because it is tons of fun. Not only do you get to do various labs and science projects, but you also have fun while doing it.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course is when we did the PCR lab. We had to take hair follicles from students or teachers and replicate the DNA found in. We looked at different genetic markers found in their DNA. I learned how to use the PCR machine and how it replicated one strand of DNA into millions.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice for this course is to study. Though the labs may be fun, the tests are usually very difficult. Take some time outside of class to get to know the subject. You will find many interesting facts and learn enough information about the subject to pass the tests.
