    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this class to anyone interested in biology or looking to pursue a career in the sciences. Mr. Benskin is a very engaging teacher and always helps students understand the difficult material.

    Course highlights:

I learned about the different chemical processes that take place in plants and animals such as respiration and photosynthesis. The highlights of the course included learning more in depth about how my own body works during the anatomy portion of the class.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would highly recommend taking lots of notes and reviewing them every night. Attending the review sessions before each major test is definitely worth it and help a ton.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is definitely a challenging course but with dedication it can be done. To thoroughly understand the content, I had to read and take notes on the corresponding chapters in the test book. Though this course required many hours a week, I learned so much from the macromolecules to the phospholipids in the cell membrane. It gave me a good head start to the material I will learn in college.

    Course highlights:

The bacteria project at the end of the year was definitely a highlight. We spent weeks researching an unknown bacteria performing various tests from the litmus milk test to a carbohydrate fermentation test to dwindle the list of possible bacteria. As you can see, this course taught me practical situations in which the material we learned could be applied.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This is a great course in which you will learn a lot. If you do opt to take it, my advice to succeed would be to listen in class and take detailed notes on class discussions and to read the chapters in the book.
