Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend taking AP psych because it is a class I genuinely, enjoyed attending in high school. I loved learning about the functions of the brain and human behavior. Mr. Aguiar was an excellent teacher who conducted many hands on activities to help us comprehend the concepts. One time we had to walk around the school with a bandana over our eyes and were lead by the sound of our partners voice. This demonstrated the power of sound. Overall I would 10/10 recommend because even if you have no interest in psychology, I promise you that you will learn something interesting about yourself that will allow you to gain a better understanding about yourself and why you act the way you do.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of AP psych were going on a field trip to the zoo to analyze animal behavior and do a project on it. Another highlight was walking around class and trying to decipher pictures which were all disfigured. Throughout this course I learned about the functions of the brain such as the hippocampus containing all of our memories and the right side of the brain controlling the left side. My teacher would often give us mnemonic devices in order to retain concepts. For example he told us that if we ever saw a hippo on campus that we would never forget it; therefore the hippocampus retains all memories.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are not willing to work hard are not used to doing a lot of work then I would not recommend this class. In order to be successful in this class you need to complete all of the work, read the assigned chapters every night, study extremely hard for tests by going on quizlet, and take notes during class. It is very easy to slack off in this class but just remember that this is an AP course and it will pay off when you pass the exam and get the college credit in the end.
