This class was tough.
You will never find a professor more passionate, engaged and consumed by her job. Professor Spurling's soul is quite clearly set ablaze by teaching genetics, and this level of love will quickly find you just as captivated as her. Thanks to her, I quickly found myself doing well not because the class was easy but because I genuinely loved the material.
Among many things, my favorite topic included cancer genetics. Since cancer is a very prevalent and relevant theme to all of our lives, learning just exactly how this horrible disease helps shed some light on what our loved ones might be experiencing.

Advice for students:
The best advice is to visit you TA's during their help session hours, and practice your homework problems. The exams will almost always revolve around problem solving, NOT factual memorization, and thus are very contingent on you UNDERSTANDING concepts instead of simply remembering definitions and terms.
