    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is an amazing course if you like to speak your mind in a very welcoming space. I love saying my opinion and having class discussions and this class was perfect for that.

    Course highlights:

The discussions were a highlight. What I learned was how to be a better writer, I can honestly say that my essays now are much better then they were before.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the essays given in class. Participate in discussions and take time for your essays.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The course is mandatory, so yes I would recommend it. I actually find this course very interesting, however, because you are allowed to write about things that you are interested in which makes it more appealing and fun to write the essays required.

    Course highlights:

My teacher made the course fun. She would explain to us the topic in new and intriguing ways each time. For example, one time she used a short, animated clip that was funny and interesting to watch. Of course, we did not know what the clip had to do with what we were learning at first, but then she explained to us the importance. It allowed us to see the course in a different way because we were using examples that weren't just from our readings, but from anything we could make relative. I learned about contact zones and difference in language and writing. I also learned about ways of thinking and engaging with communities and the world. Overall, it was a very interesting course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to write a lot! The course is an English course, so there will be a lot of writing. In my class specifically, I had to write four major papers throughout the semester that were about 7-10 pages long each. There were also some smaller papers along the way. Also, make sure you don't procrastinate when writing the papers because otherwise you will not be able to write a good paper because they do grade relatively hard. Going to office hours also helps because my teacher was always willing to look over my paper for me and help with revisions.
