This class was tough.
I would not recommend this class because of the need to teach yourself the material outside of class. Lecture slides, discussion, and textbook materials are all very disconnected. It is very writing intensive, as expected with a W course, however, in order to do well, you must truly understand the material completely.
Professor Horowitz is very passionate about the subject and enjoys bringing in relevant topics to connect it to the course material. It keeps the class interesting.

Advice for students:
Be sure to read the textbook because only key concepts are covered in lecture, but specific details are expected on the exams. Prepare to handwrite notes because there is a no-technology policy in this class, except on very rare occasions.
