    Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

    I would recommend this course to students who are typically not as good at sciences. Since Natural Science is required for all University of Nevada students to take as a prerequisite, there is no shying away from a Biology class. Borgeson creates so many different assignments for students that are actually so helpful and necessary to learning the material. She provided us with a website that we could use to study different biology topics that we would be tested on throughout the course. She makes it so easy for students (even the ones who struggle with science) to remember the material and be successful in the class.

    Course highlights:

    The highlights of this course for me were the biology journals we were assigned to write and our weekly quizzes we were assigned. Throughout the course, we were required to find four different articles about current research studies involving biology and summarize what we learned from the articles. This assignment benefited me so much because not only was I learning about actual studies going on all over the world, but it also helped me make connections with what I was learning at the time in the class. For example, I read an article about biotechnology and how it is being used to increase crop production, while at the same time our chapter we were being tested on was about biotechnology as well. The journals were basically just a way to further your knowledge and familiarity about different biology topics. For the weekly quizzes, we were quizzed on different topics we were learning about in class at the time. We were allowed unlimited attempts on the quizzes, and we were also allowed to go back and study the quiz questions to prepare for exams.

    Advice for students:

    When you first take a look at the syllabus, you are going to be overwhelmed because Borgeson gives you a full plan of everything due throughout the semester. Do not get discouraged though, because it may seem like a lot of work, but you are actually given so much time to complete each assignment, and you are always allowed to work in a group which makes things much more bearable.
