This class was tough.
I would recommend this course because it is essential to anyone who wants to understand more about the world of accounting. It is required for Accounting majors, but there is also plenty of learning opportunities for those who aren't in Accounting.
The bulk of the class delved into each financial statement with just a little more detail than what you would experience in a 200 level Accounting course. Then, you go into the nitty-gritty details of each section on those statements. For example, there's an entire chapter on Cash that is just fascinating. If you like rules and learning about the how and why certain things are cash and others aren't, it's a great time to be in this class.

Advice for students:
To succeed in Mark Jackson's Accounting 401, you must have the time to sink into the work. This is not an easy course by any measurement. I spent 5 hours on a single homework assignment one night, while working with someone else! Granted, there's only 1 particular assignment that needed that much time, but it's derivative of the other parts of the class. Class attendance is also a must. I would have gotten a higher grade had I not missed class due to sickness and family emergencies (plus the occasional ditch, which everyone is guilty of once or twice). Do not miss this class if you can help it. I wish I could've told myself that earlier this year.
