    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend. He has a very well teaching manner. He wants you to succeed and makes it hard to do but when you get the hang of it you see why and where he is coming from with the way he teaches.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to become a better writer. He teaches you how to take a plain old paper and make it ten times better.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the work and the reading. He doesn't give out tests or quizzes but there is a lot of homework and reading.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class and especially this teacher to others who are in need of writing assistance.

    Course highlights:

The biggest highlight of the course would have to be all the interesting subjects we talked about in class.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't over think a topic that isn't a big deal.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Lovas was always very helpful, not just with English, but with other classes too. Phillip Lovas will help you kickstart your semester by introducing you to some of the school's resources, like the math and writing center. Your grade will be mainly focusing on a final portfolio made of three writing pieces, but do not worry, he gives the students feedback throughout the semester and offers help in his office hours.

    Course highlights:

This course introduced me to many new writing styles such as a proposal, a rhetorical analysis, and a discourse community essay. If one is taking this course, I would strongly advise that they purchase the book, 21 genres and How to Write Them by Brock Dethier, and also use the power points Phillip posts online as references.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to put effort into this five unit course. Make sure to attend class daily because since it is an eight AM course, you will be tempted to sleep in, do not fall into that temptation. Phillip Lovas will take note of who attends and who does not, those who attend will be aware of extra credit opportunities and important events.
