This class was tough.
I would highly recommend this course to all business students (also, you have to take it). Managing in Complex Environments was the course that challenged me the most during my spring semester as a freshman. This course made me thing very critically and specifically, which I found somewhat difficult in the beginning. However, as the course went on I thoroughly enjoyed the lectures and the readings because I was forced to listen intently to my professor and think critically about what I was reading in order to thrive and succeed in that course. The course gives a great overview of the various issues that can occur within the complex business environment of each department (marketing, supply chain, accounting, business management, etc.).
In this course, all of the business majors were discussed briefly as well as the various issues that can occur within the complex business environment of each department (marketing, supply chain, accounting, business management, etc.). I learned about many problems that are faced and dealt with when operating in a complex business environment and how to appropriately and effectively approach those.

Advice for students:
In order to succeed in this course, you absolutely have to attend lectures as well as read the readings word for word. The quizzes include both information discussed only in lecture and information only covered in the readings, so be prepared to dedicate a lot of hours to this course in order to achieve an A in this course. All of my lecture notes were typed, which was quite beneficial considering everything that came out of my professor’s mouth seemed to be helpful in one way or another. When it came to the readings, I always read them at least two times. The first time reading through each I would highlight everything that I felt was important and crucial to understanding certain topics. The second time reading through each I would only read over the parts I had previously highlighted. The night before each quiz I would read over all of the readings that I had highlighted and then take the practice quizzes that I had obtained from my professor and students who had previously taken this course. The quizzes were very helpful because throughout the years, some questions had been carried over from previous quizzes so sometimes I would recognize a question on the actual quiz that I had previously seen on a practice quiz. You must go to class and listen intently, read the readings, and take the practice quizzes in order to achieve an A in this course.
