    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend rewriting the notes after each class in a separate notebook. Attend another professors lectures if possible. The more exposure the better. Also attend as many study groups as possible to keep the material fresh in your mind. Try to stay as up to date on the problem sets as possible as hard as it may be. The practice tests are very similar to the actual tests.

    Course highlights:

The course is very hard. It is a lot of work. It is a lot of memorizing.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Set aside a lot of extra time for this class. Try not to take this class with hard classes if possible. This class requires a lot of time in order to do well.

    Course Overview:

Don't let the rumors about ochem scare you! Dr. Huston is a very kind and fair professor. She goes out of her way to ensure that you understand the material. With that in mind, do not get behind. Keep up with the work she assigns. Make sure you understand the concepts in the beginning as the course builds on itself.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Huston is a very enthusiastic professor who goes out of her way to help you! Get to know her and you will succeed. Plus, if you build a foundation in Ochem1, Ochem2 will be a breeze!

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do not get behind!!! Keep up with the course material. Do every problem set that she gives you, multiple times until you completely understand the concepts behind it.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Its a great course to take (and it's a requirement for several majors) to learning about the way organic molecules and compounds interact. It' s not an easy class by any stretch, and requires a lot of self motivation to practice concepts and make sure that you know the material on your own time. However, Dr. Huston's teaching style is very enthusiastic and engaging and it makes the class enjoyable overall.

    Course highlights:

some of the topics that were covered were: structure and bonding in organic molecules kinetics and thermodynamics of chemical processes functional groups elimination and substitution reactions stereochemistry and chirality naming of structures and compounds reactions of haloalkanes some nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy reactions of alkenes and alkynes

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention in class and utilize the book and the note sheets that she provides with each chapter in the book. Do practice problems from book as you move along through the courses' concepts to make sure you are retaining information.
