    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

A lot of work for only one credit, but helps a lot to understand biology concepts.

    Course highlights:

I took it over the summer so I enjoyed it a little more. I learned about diffusion and osmosis which has helped me in understanding different diseases/illnesses in my nursing classes.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Stay on top of the lab assignments. And read the assignment before hand so the lab runs smoothly.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to students who are going into the field of science or medical research. The course focused on the essentials to recording and presenting data effectively and put a large emphasis on citing what you use. Another aspect that is taught thoroughly is proper technique to using tools in the lab. What I wish I knew before going into this course was how much work there was going to be and how particular the students had to be in completing it. This does not mean that I would change my mind about taking the course but am giving a heads-up about alotting enough time for this course.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was my instructor. She always was eager to teach us something new, carry out the lab, or answer our questions. I learned many things about lab technique from how to use a micropipetter to presenting data to the class.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Every student should have good note-taking skills and be attentive to directions for this course. Students should know that the course will not be easy but worth your time in the end.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This course is comprised of busy work. It does not pertain to the accompanying lecture in any way and nothing new is learned. The experiments are easy and boring, with no challenges or fun aspects. The workload is enormous and it's all pointless. The quizzes are difficult, even if you do all of the practice problems and understand the material.

    Course highlights:

The only thing I have learned in this course is how to write a Grant Proposal. If you want to learn that, Pitt offers a Grant Proposal Writing class that doesn't make you do so much tedious sidework.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention to detail and do all of the practice problems.
