    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I highly recommend taking this course because you will have a better understanding of how and why things work in your everyday life, and also because you can receive college credit for it meaning you won’t have to pay for the class in college. Even if you don’t receive college credit, once you take it again in college you will have a much better understanding of the standards and curriculumn more so than other students which will guide you in getting a good grade in the class.

    Course highlights:

The main highlight of this course in my opinion is being able to explain to others the things you learn. This class also helped me to understand certain things in healthcare because the standards for both courses connected with each other. From taking this course I have gained a huge amount of knowledge about things such as how your body functions work to genetics to why your body does what it does everyday to why abnormalities occur during pregnancy and so much more. I learned that there is literally a reason for everything and that the body functions are truly amazing. There’s an ongoing process every second occurring in your body even on the smallest scale such as cells pushing out ATP (Adrenalin tryphosphate) your body needs to get energy. Taking this class will give you an understanding of almost everything. With the knowledge you gain from this class it can be executed in any career path that you choose to go in which is why it’s such an important class.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

This class is a very tough class, you have to put in a few hours each night in order to get the highest grade possible. In order to succeed in this class you have to study, and read your textbook. Not just studying vocabulary terms but you have to be sure that you thoroughly understand the content because it will always progress. Something you learn in the first unit will come back later on because everything is a process . You will always have repitition with the terms and processes you learn. Be sure to always ask questions if you don’t understand something and staying after hours is very beneficial. Not only will it help you to understand the material, but it will also allow your teacher to see that you really want to learn and understand. Last but not least find a good study group. Your peers will help you and you will help them as well for instance if they know and understand something that you don’t feel comfortable with they can help you out and vice versa. The course is tough but just push through, study, and ask questions and you will be able to get through.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course and specifically this teacher because it's a great opportunity to become exposed to the medical field and the components of what will be learned in college for this subject. Mrs. Jones is such an amazing teacher who comes to school every day 2 hours before school starts to ensure the success of the students that need her. Being an AP course, this class is not easy but the different activities that are planned out throughout the school year, the way that Mrs. Jones explains how to take notes while she lectures and the many study sessions that she has at Panera Bread, really expose students to their capability of being successful in this class.

    Course highlights:

I really didn't experience the highlight of this course until I started taking anatomy my senior year of high school. Many of the things that I learned in biology such as the different organ systems, the nervous and integumentary (skin) systems, functions and origins of plant and animal cells, mitosis, meiosis and so much more comes up again and again in anatomy and I am forever grateful that instead of learning new information, I can instead add on to the information that I already have. This just goes to show that high school will pay off and it's important to not give up when one night of homework is too hard, your teachers and classmates become frustrating, or even when your grade is high and you think you may be able to take a few low grades. Keep your head high because high school doesn't last forever.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The most important piece of advice that I could give anyone taking this course is to make sure that you study something, no matter how small or big, every night. This way you will have a better chance of remembering the things that you learn throughout the week. Towards the end of the school year, when the AP exam arrives, you won't have to cram all the information from 1st semester back in your brain because you continuously fed that knowledge to your brain throughout the year. Other than this, make sure you ask questions and use ALL of your resources. Ask when you don't understand something because sometimes once a specific subject is learned, the next subject may be totally different and you may never get that good question answered. Ask even if you know what you're talking about, but just to clarify.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This was a challenging class, but it taught me a lot. Lab were great and group projects were also helpful.

    Course highlights:

You can learn more if you take good notes, keep your binder organized, and complete the reading assignments. Participating in the labs and group projects were also very helpful. I received an A in the class because I did all of these things.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You must complete the assignments and take notes to help you study.
