Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would absolutely recommend this course! It is important to learn about your place in history and being able to put current political situations into context is a great skill to have. Topics never spoken of in school before felt like a new area of understanding opened up.

    Course highlights:

By taking this course, I have felt an overall increase in appreciation for everyone's history and an increased interest in world affairs. The connections and patterns in world history and incredibly interesting and the social connection is important to be aware of.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Studebts taking this course must enter prepared to make it fun for themselves. History is one long narrative. If you treat it accordingly, it becomes a form of entertainment. Learning names and dates is like knowing actors and their works. Staying in this mindset makes it infinitely more easy.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course, because the material that I learned in it was very interesting. It is a challenging class, especially with Ms. Barlow, because she is makes sure to challenge the students, however this challenge will prepare any student taking it for college classes! Any student taking this class should be prepared for a lot of homework and very difficult tests, though. So, if doing homework and studying are not activities that you would like to do, then I would not recommend the class, given that those are the activities you will need to do to do well in the class.

    Course highlights:

I loved my teacher, Ms. Barlow. She was so funny and very patient! Having her as a teacher was definitely a highlight! I learned thorough information about world history from the Paleolithic Era, to the Mongol Empire, to World War II. I have never learned so much information in such little time. This course was quite dense material-wise, and I can definitely say that I have learned a lot about world history. I also learned new study habits, such as using flashcards and buying textbook-specific study guides to study for the tests. These are study habits that will help me enormously in college, so I am definitely glad I took this course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study, study, and study more. This class has difficult tests. The tests often pull from small details in the textbook, so I would consider either buying your own copy of the textbook and highlighting facts that you think you need to remember or using the copy given to you and jotting down facts that may be important. I would also consider buying a study guide or consulting an online study guide (if available) that corresponds with the class's textbook for studying. This will help you get the material under your belt and that will help you on tests. Also, DO THE HOMEWORK!!! Homework is checked and is ten points for each assignment. It will be collected on a homework sheet after every six assignments, so overall it is 60 points! Since Ms. Barlow does not weight tests and homework differently, these homework grades can boost your total quarter grade and really help you!
