    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because it has improved my writing tremendously. I took this my junior year of high school. And now I'm a freshman in college, writing papers and performing better than most in my class. I am able to write quality papers with ease. This course is far from easy, but extremely beneficial.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of the course include learning how to write a well-versed, professional argumentative paper. I think that this is an extremely important life skill to have. There will be many times in life where you'll need to be able to write a quality paper: whether it's to a boss, a professor, a state legislator, and beyond.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

This class requires a lot of time and effort. I advise students considering taking this course to not hesitate to ask for help when needed. I advise that students take this course, despite its difficulty, because the benefits outweigh the efforts. It's 100% doable. It just requires time and dedication. The sky is the limit with this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

AP English Language and Composition was a wonderful course; it expanded my writing, reading, and analytic abilities. The class was always interactive and intriguing, and my particular teacher always had a plan. She accomplished much in every class period, and nearly all of her students received fives and fours on the extremely difficult AP Exam for Lang.

    Course highlights:

I really enjoyed class discussions, essays, multiple choice, analyzing literature and its authors, reading outside of class, and improving my literary skills more and more each week. I learned the devices with which authors persuade, explain, describe, and present information. I learned how to delve deeper into literature through class discussions, re-reading materials, writing until I discovered meaning, and more methods.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go into the course with a positive attitude and a hard-working mindset. Be prepared for a lot of homework and no shortcuts; you should always be doing your own work thoroughly and honestly. Don't be shy in class and study outside of class. Work quickly during multiple choice tests and essays; this will prepare you for the fast pace of the timed AP Exam.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

AP English Language and Composition enabled me to understand a variety of texts much better than before; I was also able to analyze and write beautifully insightful essays on countless speeches, topics, current events, and more. It was very in-depth and hands-on, and my teacher, Mrs. Hamilton, was the most effective teacher for the course.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to properly analyze text, write and express my ideas, have group discussions, improve my time management skills, and cut out unnecessary babble from my essays. This class ultimately improved my writing and reading skills, which are both extremely important to each individual who wishes to succeed in college and real-world applications. The projects and assignments were intense yet enjoyable; I feel better prepared for the world awaiting me.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Come into the course already organized and prepared to fail a few times in order to recognize your true potential as a writer and an analyst. Always, always work your hardest, and never put off big assignments. The projects and essays you are given help you largely if you put in the effort; you will see an increased awareness of occurrences in your world outside of school, as well as increased academic performance so long as you complete your assignments thoroughly.
