Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

AP English Language and Composition was indisputably the most influential class of all my educational years. Although at first skeptical about the books, poems, and projects required in the class, I came to love them all and learn impactful lessons that will stick with me forever. Mrs. Hron was a blessing to have as a teacher because she not only taught the curriculum, but also went outside the box to teach her students about topics outside of the classroom, all while having them relate to the class itself somehow.

    Course highlights:

We did this photography project where we took pictures that showed aspects of our high school years and them both analyzed our own and others. I had the most fun with this, because I love telling stories and with my pictures I was able to craft stories, as well as analyze details and overall content, which I also love doing. I came to love all the books we read in some way because they were such great stories with immense lessons within; The Glass Castle was such a poignant and beautiful story, The Things They Carried was a real mind turning read because you had to differentiate fact from fiction and discussed PSTD which I had never read about before, Brave New World was yet another totalitarian novel that schools love but was surprisingly interesting and taught me not to always stand up for what I believe in, and Frankenstein was a beautiful gothic, romantic read about decision and their consequences. I also enjoyed the poems we read and analyzed like Rime of the Ancient Mariner and the Ted Talks we had to watch and discuss weekly.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Always be open-minded and diligent with your work. There isn't a lot of homework but the projects given like the Brave New World project we received were very heavy and required many hours of work. Don't slack off or be passive, it is truly a wonderful class to take, and if you just listen, you're sure to learn a lot. And, most importantly, put in one hundred percent of effort; at some times it will seem impossible, but all your hard work will pay off in the long run.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

AP Language is a class that I highly recommend. It helps to prepare students more for college-styled writing and for applications that are necessary for senior year. The main problem why people do not want to take this course is because of the heavy work load, but it is a great preparation for college and it is worth the credits in the end.

    Course highlights:

Out of all of the benefits of this class, the best thing would have to be the preparation that you receive for college. This class helped me learn how to write a thorough essay for college. Also, I learned how to use rhetorical devices in my writing and create my own style, which colleges love in applications.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This course is beneficial in the long run, but it can be time-consuming during the school year. Do take this class if you are interested in writing, want to learn how to become a better writer, and/or are excelling in an honors English class. Do not take this class to get out of senior project, or if you are not committed to spending at least an hour each night of homework.
