    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course teaches you so much about science in general. In my personal experience, never before chemistry had I actually gotten to do experiments. I always thought of science as a boring, 'text-book' subject where we took notes and did worksheets. This was so hands-on and so fun.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of this course are making your own lab — a 'design lab,' it's called. This includes coming up with your own hypothesis and the (sometimes toxic) materials to test it. I learned a lot about having faith in myself, as well as safety in the lab.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You need to pay attention in class. You need to be creative and not afraid to take risks. A lot of times people say that the only way to understand chemistry is to have a "chemistry brain." I personally think the subject is fairly understandable for anyone, but keep that in mind.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Chemistry 2 gives you a head start on what you will be learning in college as well as what will expected of you by your professors. Plus, Bardwell is a really good teacher and is very willing to help you with any problems.

    Course highlights:

The highlights for me would be the organic chemistry unit, it completely different from inorganic chemistry which is what most people learn in high school. That unit is really hard, but if you want to go into medicine or engineering, you going to have to take it. It's always better to get a head start than to start late. Another highlight for me are the design labs. That teaches us how to figure out problems on our own and to process data without an instruction sheet.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't wait until the night before to start the homework. Always read the procedure before coming to class. If you any questions just go in before class and ask Bardwell. He gets there at 6 in the morning.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because it gives you a more in depth look at chemistry and includes how these chemicals that seem so complicated fit into our daily lives.

    Course highlights:

You develop a strong connection with the teacher because he loves the course and you must love the course in order to get through it. I learned a lot of chemistry but overall I learned how to create my own labs and how to budget my time in the classroom effectively.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure that you have the basics of chemistry under your belt and that you are fully prepared to learn more. You will need good study habits in order to pass this course otherwise the tests will very rough for you.
