    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Owens prepares you for the expectations of writing in college. I took his Compostion I course in the spring of 2016, and I went on to take a college English course at DMACC and I would be struggling horribly in that course if it weren't for the previous knowledge I gained from Mr. Owens

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was learning in depth the steps of creating a college level essay.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would recommend listening to everything the teacher has to offer because in the long run it will improve your writing immensely.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course as it was a great experience! During the course I was able to write almost constantly. At times we did have specific topics but many times the topics became whatever we desired to write!

    Course highlights:

Many classes were free write periods. This allowed the class to write about whatever came to mind or if we wanted, we could write about a different topic entirely. I was able to feed my creative writing desire with this class!

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Because this is such a great course, take advantage of the opportunity you have to write freely!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This college course dives into poetry and allows you to interpret the literature the way you chose to. Although it is a lot of writing it is manageable even while taking two other language art classes. The atmosphere in the class was laid back enough that you could share your writing in front of the class without judgement. A judgement free class is a high schoolers dream.

    Course highlights:

In this course I learned who I was through my writing. I found my strengths and developed them more throughly to the point my writing almost completely changed into a more mature writer. I learned that reading my work out loud to a partner allowed me to recognize what I do and do not like about my writing to make positive changes.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Enjoy having peers to work with and correct their paper in depth and do not be afraid to make corrections because getting help is never a bad thing.
