    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Osteoclasts. Saltatory conduction. Hematopoiesis. All these topics are covered in depth in this course. At first the long words might seem scary but the teacher breaks the concept down and shows how applicable it is in the real world. The teacher worked as a nurse before teaching, so she has so much knowledge that she is willing to share. Her teaching style involves sarcasm which makes the learning fun, believe it or not. I would highly recommend this course, especially for those looking for a career in the medical field.

    Course highlights:

Frogs, cats, and sheeps. That was the highlight of this course. We had the chance to dissect those animals. Not only was it fun cutting the animals open, but the class had a chance to identify all the structures that we had learned in class and see how they functioned in the body. I learned that every structure in the body, no matter the size, has a critical role to play. The microscopic valves in the heart such as the mitral valve prevents backflow of blood in the heart while the pancreas secretes amylase which breaks down food entering the body through the mouth. All these body parts work together in keeping me and you alive today which was a great thing to learn.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention in class! It's easy to get sidetracked while the teacher lectures, but do not zone out. It's hard to zone back in because the course is full of minute details. Also take good notes from the power points and her lectures because the test is mainly based off them. Reading the book can get tedious, but it is a good way to reinforce the material. If the student is thinking about pursuing a medical career, taking this course can serve as a great indicator whether he/she is cut out for the medical field in the sense that the student finds the material is understandable and enjoyable for them.
