Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

IB Biology is experiment based and mainly student lead. I had a wonderful class and we explored the the curriculum, beyond rote facts. We explored the material in depth and in a conversational manner which I found enjoyable.

    Course highlights:

With the class I discovered the inner workings of living things down to the molecular level. Other biological learnings aside, I learned how to work in a lab group effectively, study habits and the nature of scientific findings.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This class is a lot of fun and is one one of the more comfortable curriculums compared to IB Chemistry or IB Physics. Some students chose to take IB Environmental Systems and Societies because it is the least rigorous of the IB science cources but I would recommend Biology because the material is much more interesting.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mr. Stemmler has a talent with teaching young adults. He understands how to teach my peers and I in an efficient way allowing us to understand the content while still challenging us to further question the topic of conversation. He is always answering any question asked with a full and enriching answer.

    Course highlights:

I did not ever think that I would manage to memorize the parts and pathways of blood through the heart but Mr. Stemmler helped me to gain an understanding of it and eventually score well on the final exam. I greatly enjoyed learning more about the human body concerning anatomy because I wish to major in nursing. I value this knowledge greatly.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take notes whenever you can. Ask questions the very minute confusions arises, and ask even more if you feel the need to. I highly recommend a website known as "bioninja.com". It has a lot of great study materials designed for the course.
