    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This middle eastern history class is challenging and vigorous, but rewarding in the end no matter what grade you have or what your IB score is. The content is do interesting and the discussions that go on are so prevalent and essential to have. This class definitely challenged me and also helped me gain better studying skills.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were definitely the speakers that we had. To gain perspective from both sides of a situation, for example the Atab Israeli conflict, we had a Palestinian come in and IDF officers come in. This opened up students eyes to think about how the media portrays numerous groups of people.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study the content throughout the course and always participate, you gain a lot of knowledge from listening to others. Be open to others thoughts and respectful.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because while it is a lot of work there are a lot of interesting topics that you talk about and the issues that are discussed are issues that are still going on today in the middle east and parts of Africa.

    Course highlights:

A Highlight of this course so far was on the first day of class we had a debate about the conflicts between the israelis and the Palestinians. This was really cool because since it was the first day the only information we had was on one side that we were put on so you really felt like you were having a true debate on this topic. I learned a lot about how broken that part of the world is and that while it has been getting better things are still very bad there and I am very excited to continue this class next trimester.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Only take this course if you are willing to put in the work for it. There isn't a ton of lecturing, you have to do the reading and take notes yourself. This is very important because there are free response quizzes and all of your tests are only Essays so there is no way to BS your way through the class.
