    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it made me more attentive of my surroundings in the world so that history does not repeat itself. It has also forced me to understand on a deeper level why history happened. I used to think, "history is the past so it's irrelevant", but after this course I realize that I was mistaken. History shapes our futures and has taught society several life lessons on how to maintain the most peaceful and successful life.

    Course highlights:

This course focused around European dictators in the 1900s. I was very captivated as to why these dictators rose to power, why they acted in a certain matter, and how they were able to brainwash entire countries of their ideologies. I learned that how this history affected these countries current day alliances and relationships.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

It is crucial to take very detailed notes and to understand the readings that the teacher gives. Most of the topics are very complicated so when you don't understand something, ask questions!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it IB history gives a detailed scope on European history during the times of WW1 all the way through the Cold War. It covers all the major European countries, their roles in history as well as their responses to the actions of other European countries. It is an overall interesting course and I would definitely recommend it.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course in IB1 History were the rise of totalitarian leaders and their consolidations of power. Leaders like Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin. Each country- Germany, Italy and the Soviet Union- were covered in depth. In IB2 History, the entire Cold War is discussed in regards to the leaders of each involved country, the actions taken by these countries, and also hypotheses based on the events of the Cold War.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Always review your history. It is easy to forget what went on at a certain time. Also, don't just memorize facts. Make connections as to why certain things happen and why the reactions of some countries were the way they were. It is important to be able to analyze the history rather than just listing facts.
