This class was tough.
I took Italian for four years in high school- but on my first day of French 1001 at GWU, I learned more French than I ever learned Italian. This class was truly immersive and for that reason, it was incredibly challenging. Although the course met four days a week and required a heavy workload, I came out much more knowledgeable and genuinely confident in my language skills.
This class was pretty intensive- but this helped me improve my time management skills and work ethic. I also got much better at memorizing, and I think my brain capacity for languages grew. I learned very fundamental conversational French, as well as proper grammar.

Advice for students:
This is a course that requires dedication, especially if you are not particularly good at language-learning. I'd recommend spending as much time going over the material, even if there is not a test coming up. Review your materials and vocabulary everyday so you don't have to cram before exams. It's great to be able to participate in class so that way you can practice speaking as well.
