Not too easy. Not too difficult.
I went into this course without much programming knowledge. I left it with a solid grasp of how programming works, especially programming with Java. I found it insanely helpful. However, some other students didn't agree. Most found it difficult because the course is only taught once a week, and at night (my class was Thursdays from 7:10 to 9:40, but he normally let us out around 9:15). Because of this, you have to do a bit of extra studying outside of class. You can't expect yourself to just remember everything a week later. I would recommend reviewing your last lesson at the halfway point between your two lessons, just so that you don't go a week without looking at the material.
One of my favorite things that we learned was how to solve problems with Java. Now, when I'm bored, I find myself looking up "Java problems" and figuring them out through programming.

Advice for students:
As previously stated, I would definitely make time during the week to review your last lesson. Also, reach out to your professor if you have any questions. As long as you phrase your question correctly, he'll answer it. I would also recommend participating in class. This guy only sees you once a week; make sure he knows you.
