    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I liked this course when I was a freshman entering Howard University because I found it so intriguing to be taught by a Latina who was born in South Africa and still had citizenship and taught English at a HBCU. Simply this aspect allowed me to absorb knowledge because it provided cultural literacy and a new world view in literature.

    Course highlights:

One highlight of this course is the papers and the exposure to black literature. My first glimpse at collegiate level writing was through the eyes of people that I look like and have similar experiences. Another highlight was the final paper and presentation because it allowed me to connect my writing to real world matters such as death of Travoyn Martin and Black Lives Matter. It made me proud to be in the course.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice is to stay on top of all assignments and if you are struggling with course material then you should keep in contact with the professor to avoid negative view on your work ethic as a student.
