    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course thoroughly prepared juniors for both the AP and SAT English exams. Admittedly, it is no cakewalk, but the teacher knows her stuff, and she'll make sure that you do to.

    Course highlights:

I learned all the AP essay forms (synthetic, rhetoric, argument), as well as strategies for the multiple choice sections. Being an AP grader, the teacher accurately scored mock essays and gave us feedback. Lastly, she revisited English 101--basic writing skills were strengthened and clarified.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If you're not prepared to work four hours a night on this class, it probably isn't for you. The teacher expects a certain level of maturity and independence, meaning that you need to manage your time. (And of course, no monkey business.) She's also human, just like you and I, so don't be afraid to talk to her if something is bothering you. Essentially, do your work, do your BEST, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course for anyone who would like to gain a better understanding of the fundamentals of writing and literature. As a warning, however, there is a lot of work involved.

    Course highlights:

My highlight of this course would have to be learning about the many "rhetorical devices" and their uses, and the final project, during which students were required to participate in a mock court case. I learned that there is a lot more to writing than meets the eye. There are many formation and stylistic elements that effect the strength of one's writing.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This course requires a lot of critical thinking and analysis. As preparation, try watching/reading your favorite movies or books again and assessing their plots and elements on a deeper level.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because English Composition teaches you a lot about essay writing and analyses. These are elements you will need in college.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was watching myself learn to read then analyze something. This skill is very valuable when it comes to test taking and essay writing

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Stay motivated. The first try is not always the best.
