    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I have never been much of a math person and I must still admit it is not my favorite subject. For this reason, I was amazed at how much this course challenged me as a student as well as a person. With Mrs. Dewees, especially, I was both intimidated and welcomed. With this class now in my arsenal, it is easier to make more connections to science classes which I had never seen a link before.

    Course highlights:

The math was one thing: an immense challenge for me. The math got into shape in time to score the full 5 on the AP test in May, but not before I got to know myself and my own strengths. Math has never been my strength, and I never thought I was the kind of person that can approach a teacher on my own. Oh, the embarrassment! I learned how to approach a teacher for help when I need it and I learned the obvious: calculus. The way she taught the subject, made it far easier than a textbook ever depicted it. I also learned all kinds of math tricks to help me succeed on the ACT.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Go to any review sessions that are offered, even if you do not think you need it. If your teacher posts videos of your lectures as mine did, watch them until you get sick of them. You will not regret it, especially if you are preparing for an end-of-the-year exam as I was. Whoever you have as a teacher, they will not bite your head off for not knowing the content. It is best to remember that at one time, your teacher, like you, did not know what calculus was and now they are up there teaching it! They want to see you succeed.
