    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Mrs. Royce's Dual Credit Biology class is highly useful for becoming acclimated to the workload that is usually given in higher-level science and math classes at the college. Moreover, Mrs. Royce also introduces students to Anatomy and Physiology during the end of the spring semester, which is extremely helpful for students that plan to take A&P or study medical courses in high school. Unlike other professors, Mrs. Royce is also committed to making much of the information easy to understand, which may not be the case in other Biology classes taught by different professors.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part of the course was studying the Biochemistry unit. More specifically, Mrs. Royce goes further into depth about cells and the way in which they operate. While this is interesting, she also provides many hands-on activities for this unit. An example of this is when we got to use gummy worms to simulate DNA replication. Another thing that I enjoyed about the course was the amount of group activities that we were involved in. Aside from developing a lifelong interest in Biochemistry, our group projects also taught me to be more of a team player.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

If you a considering this course, it would be useful to watch lectures and take notes as soon as possible and not wait until the last minute. Often times, Mrs. Royce may give a pop-quiz on a lecture that day after it is due. Additionally, study a week in advance for every exam, and compare your notes with other students' notes because there is a lot of information being presented in her lectures, and there may be information that you forgot to include in your notes.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I loved this class! Science has never been my favorite or best course, I barley got through Chemistry with a low B, but Biology was different. Mrs. Royce is a great teacher, she does a very good job of teaching everything so that you understand it, but still making it fun. She is always there for help if you need it and allows her students to do corrections on failed tests. While taking her class, I kept a good grade and I learned quite a bit.

    Course highlights:

A lot of this course had to do with memorizing terminology and facts about how plants and cells reproduce, survive, and thrive. I appreciated that while a lot of class was lectures, Mrs. Royce still gave us fun activities that helped us memorize information. She would also show us entreating videos that pertained to the course. Sometimes they were really cheesy cartoons and sometimes they were interesting facts or species. These videos also helped me remember everything for the course. Due to the class being Dual Credit we had lecture videos twice a week which contributed to the homework load.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This class will be hard, but Mrs. Royce makes it enjoyable. It is important to keep up with the lectures and homework otherwise you will fall behind quickly. This class is a lot of memorization but once you get to Biology 1409 you get to do dissections and a lot of cool activities so look forward to that!
