    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course to any prospective college art student, and anyone who wants to pursue a career or even a hobby in art. In this course I did a lot of in depth investigations of art and was able to understand who I was in my identity, and what mediums I appreciated using. The class also pushed for art vocabulary and you learn how to view art like a real artist. I essentially learned the language of art and this opened a range of emotional reactions to things I had overlooked in the past.

    Course highlights:

My favorite part was the process portfolio research portion. We spent a week or so researching a few artists, or a movement and analyzing their work. Through this I learned to pull elements from successful artists and incorporate them into my work. I also learned storytelling and expression skills from viewing how other artists used their medium to express themselves.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Dont fall behind, and take yourself seriously. Everything that is done in this class will benefit your future time in this class. The periodical process documentations all come together in the end process portfolio. There is no busy work in this course, so everything you do should be with your full energy, and it saves a lot of time in the future. Also make every piece you make count. And truly look at art like an artist, because if you can express your ideas with a medium you are halfway there :)
