Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

If you plan on going into music performance or music education, AP Music Theory is a must! While it is not technically required to go into this field, you will be guaranteed to be at the top of your class in college if you take this course. Mr. Boyden makes sure to take time to answer the questions each individual has to ensure that every student understands what they are learning. I went on to take the AP Music Theory test at the end of the year and scored very well all thanks to him!

    Course highlights:

We cover about three or four years worth of college music theory material in just a few months, which can make the course seem rough at times, but everyone ends up getting the hang of it. We make sure to build on the basics of music theory first so we can part-write proficiently. We also study sight singing and dictation.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Do not take this course expecting an easy A just because you listen to music. We really break music apart and talk about how it works and it is not simple. It is a very informative and rewarding class, but it is not an easy A.
