    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is an extremely challenging course if taken with Mrs. Gomer. She's a very... specific teacher. This must be done her way, in her style, or else you risk failing. While not particularly heavy on course work, this class stifles creativity and individual writing style. The only kids who got an A worked hard to both brow nose and completely copy her own writing style.

    Course highlights:

I really didn't learn anything that I didn't already know. I guess I learned a bit more about rhetorical devices, but that's really little considering it's a year long course. I think I developed more intra-personal skills in dealing with Mrs. Gomer than anything else. (She's really a nice woman, I just find her teaching style restrictive.)

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Brown nose. Flatter. This is the one class in Poolesville in which you should absolutely strive to be a teacher's pet. No one will blame you at all. Get the grade and get out.

    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Ms. Liu is an amazing teacher, and prepares you extremely well for the AP.

    Course highlights:

I learned so many different writing techniques, and the overall format for different genres of writing. I also learned to analyze books, and discover hidden meaning within texts.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Although the class may be overwhelming at first, its so important to tune into class, because a lot of learning happens. Do all of the outside readings, they will help you so much in developing your analytical skills, and you will have essays on them. Also, the essay grades will either make or break your grade, so take them seriously. Also, take all of the practice tests in class seriously, because they are meant to prepare you for the AP.
