    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would say that it truly depends on the student's strengths and interests as to whether they should take this course. It's a good stepping stone for AP Literature due to its focus on text and theme analysis. However, I found the writing assignments to be redundant to the curriculum and not well-developed or supplementary to the books we were reading.

    Course highlights:

I learned more about the proper structure of compositions which helped me in future writing. The course texts were fairly interesting, thought they differ from class to class. The curriculum often veers into real-world applications that added depth to what we were reading.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Know that this course is writing-intensive and that a few big papers are assigned that weigh heavily on your grade in the class. It's never a good idea to fall behind on the reading in any class, but especially this one.

    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it really pushes students to be critical thinkers and writers, such skills that are extremely important for college. Taking this AP test can also potentially place students out of a basic English class in college.

    Course highlights:

Highlights of this course were definitely the essays. The teacher requires students to write rough drafts, then goes over the rough drafts with each student for a strong final draft. These are very important skills to develop for clear and thorough writing.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would suggest students to often see the teacher for individual evaluations of their essays. This way, students can learn from mistakes and improve in the future. Reading is also very helpful for writing ideas.

    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The research paper component has helped me throughout this year as well.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to make my writing stronger and how to save a lot of time when writing lengthy research papers.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Put the extra time into proof reading your papers and ask your peers to edit them ahead of time.
