    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend an AP Psychology course as it dives into fascinating aspects revolving around the brain, personality, behavior, and different mindsets. By taking this course, I found I am extremely interested in psychology as a subject, and it is definitely worth considering majoring in. My teacher truly inspired my love for the subject, as she was very passionate about everything she taught. My interest has carried from the classroom to day-to-day real world experiences as I've become more aware of my surroundings to notice how people convey themselves and their personality.

    Course highlights:

My highlight in this course was diving into the entire concept of the brain. I learned about the many different parts of the brain, and the function that each part plays. Together, the parts work together which ultimately makes up one's personality and behavior. These two elements constitute how a person acts and conveys themselves to others. Overall, before taking the course I had very little background knowledge of the brain and I learned a lot about the different anatomical functions.

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell students that AP Psychology is definitely a time-consuming challenge, but what you get out of the course material is so rewarding. If you're willing to put a decent amount of time into studying the material, you may find it as interesting as I did. It's a subject a lot of people are interested in, and for me it sparked a possible career choice.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class was very interactive, consisted of all-new information, and had a great atmosphere.

    Course highlights:

One highlight of this course was the material. Unlike most other classes, which elaborate on what we already know (history or science, for example), AP Psych taught entirely new concepts, which was refreshing and interesting. We did many experiments in class, didn't have busy work, and our projects were fun and helpful. I learned a lot about psychology, but I also learned more about humanity. We learned about defense mechanisms, about mental disorders, and about personal growth and self esteem, all of which helped me to further understand human nature and become a more understanding person.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This course is fun, and although the homework is minimal, the tests and FRQs are difficult. Also, paying attention during lectures is vital to doing well in the class, but reading the textbook (which is boring and has too many examples) is not.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because I think the content of the course is relatable which makes it that much more interesting. This course covered a lot of material that can be applied and explain experiences that happen in reality. To this day, I still remember vocabulary that help explain occurrences in my life.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course were the projects. We participated in children book making, video creation, and data collection. I love how this course incorporates the curriculum into a creative and diverse learning format. Students can express their other interests in art, video editing, or statistics while also learning about the material in the course like operational conditioning, the endocrine system, or defense mechanisms. I learned about how versatile this course can be and how captivating a creative learning environment can be for a student.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

It is helpful to practice how to write the FRQs in relation to context of the question. This will help students score higher on the FRQ portion of the AP test. It is also helpful to student past AP tests as it will help students get used to how the multiple choice questions are written. I also believe it is helpful to think of the content of the course in relation to one's life. This can help make concepts easier to remember.
