    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course was easily understandable for what the material is, and for its advanced placement level.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot of information through this course in a very little amount of time. It taught me good time management and test-preparation. It also mimicked college courses very well.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Pay attention to the material, and make sure you fully understand all concepts that are discussed during lectures. Reading through each chapter also helps a great deal if you do not fully understand.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The class is great for any student that enjoys a challenge and lives for biology. The course is in depth and fast paced. Furthermore, I applaud Mrs. Alkire for her teaching ability. She keeps the class entertained and engaged. Students feel comfortable asking her questions and she her answers are knowledgeable yet understandable. Not only that, but Mrs. Alkire displays a genuine interest in her students well-being. Lastly, the class assignments and labs were a blast and the independence given to you to research what you want made the course that much more enjoyable.

    Course highlights:

There are plenty of things I learned from this course, from cells and reactions, to the body systems. The highlights of the class for me were the labs and the unit on enzymes. I absolutely loved both! In the lab, the instructor, Mrs. Alkire, gave us an outline of what we should learn and then allowed us to create our own experiments, within reason. We collected data and used it to react a thorough lab report which we turned in. These labs would connect to the topic we were studying at the time and allowed students to make connections through a hands-on method system. Finally, I simply loved the enzyme unit. It spoke of different enzymes, what they do, how they do it, as well as how they may be affected by pH levels, heat, et cetera.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

My first bit of advice, if you are even thinking about this course, I highly recommend pursuing it. There are so many benefits one can reap from an AP course. However, if you would like to take it, be warned, as expected from any AP course, it can be challenging at times. A student must expect to take some time to go over the material and make sure that they are not falling behind. Do not be afraid to ask questions and use the resources given to you. Overall, it is a great course and is worth the time and effort.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Mrs Alkire is an amazing teacher, she is super friendly and does a wonderful job of helping students understand some of the more complex concepts of biology. The class was a ton of fun and I definitely recommend it to anyone. Its a difficult class and requires some effort but it is definitely worth it.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were the fact that the lessons were very well organized in a very logical sequence. We did some fun extra curricular environmental clean up events and we were able to do some projects on our own and look further into areas of biology we were interested in. The labs were a blast and went along well with the class work and they made a lot of sense and aided in the understanding of the class work.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make flashcards for the vocabulary because there is a lot of it and read the sections of the textbook even though it isn't required because it will help you a ton.
