Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It teaches abstract skills for understanding literature, going beyond literary devices to explain how punctuation and diction can influence a work of literature's meaning.

    Course highlights:

In this course I looked at works of literature, besides novels, and analyzed the rhetoric in each piece to understand how literal elements of the writing contribute to the overall meaning. Besides being able to identify syntax and unique punctuation, this taught me how to incorporate these complex elements of grammar into my own writing to make it more sophisticated and comprehensive.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

When looking at a piece of literature for a rhetorical analysis always read the passage more than once and don't hesitate to take notes in the margin.
