    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The power points were not as thorough as the tests. Hard to do well on his tests. I recommend going to his office hours and reviewing the tests and having him explain why an answer was wrong. Try to learn what he expects by what he is asking. Be expected to derive very complicated information, from a few hints given along his power points.

    Course highlights:

I think the subject is fascinating as a whole. It is the logic of biology. It is why nature behaves the way it does. I learned why some reactions will happen and how others have very little chances of proceeding. Knowing this, allows us to manipulate nature to receive a desired effect. I think its the bases of drug design and genetic design.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Go to his office hours. Study his power points in great detail. Go to his TA's and SI's office hours. Record his lectures. Review his past exams, learn the layout of his exams. Email him when confused on a topic. His tests are very personalized to what he is presenting, reading the book might help. But, do not spend to much time on the book because he might not expect you to know that specific of the material.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Haces is an incredibly competent, compassionate, and entertaining lecturer. He gives exam material that closely resembles questions and critical thinking that are mirrored on the current MCAT exams. His demonstrated expertise in the subject, and his gift in demonstrating modern applications of biochemistry are without parallel. For anyone applying to medical school or are interested in some facet of biochemistry, I would highly recommend this professor and this course!

    Course highlights:

-Thoughtful commentary -Expertly explained material - Great humorous antecdotes

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to the TA sessions. Many of the exam questions will come directly from these sessions, so go!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I took dr. West for organic chemistry two after taking doctor he sees for organic chemistry one, and Dr. West was by far 100 times better at teaching what we needed to know. The things he lectured about were what was seen on the exam, there were no surprises. Plus he gave extra credit quizes that helped out your grade a lot.

    Course highlights:

I was dreading this course due to my experience in organic one with Dr. Haces, but was pleasantly surprised at how different those professor presented the material in a way that could be understood easily. He also gave the opportunity for extra credit which was a big help.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to class and listen to his lectures. Take diligent notes. Keep up on the material and you should do fine.
